At 9:30am today, Sunday 2 December, The Pride of Cumbria from the Great North Air Ambulance Service assisted the North West Ambulance Service with a 18-year-old male who had been found collapsed at the top of Watch Hill near Cockermouth.
A spokesman for the GNAAS said: “He had been drinking and had sustained a head injury but it was unclear how long he had been there, but was suffering from hypothermia.
“The carry to the helicopter was assisted by Cockermouth mountain rescue team.”
A spokesman for Cockermouth MRT said: “The team were called by the ambulance service to assist with the recovery of a male casualty on the Hay just east of Cockermouth.
“The team carried the casualty to the Great North Air Ambulance.”
The man who was from the Cockermouth area was flown to West Cumberland hospital in Whitehaven for treatment.
His condition is described as serious.
