Tennessee Titans Sign Mitch Petrus, put Steve Hutchinson on ...

Steve Hutchinson vs Vikings

Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

After many back and forth efforts by the veteran guard Steve Hutchinson , he was finally placed on injured reserve on Wednesday. Hutchinson usually rests at least one day a week from practice for non-injury related reasons.

Hutchinson suffered a knee injury in Sunday’s matchup against the Houston Texans. He started twelve games this season. Despite the fact that the Tennessee Titans just signed Hutchinson this offseason, you have to wonder how much longer the offensive lineman will be playing the game.

The veteran has been in the league for twelve years now spending time with the Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings and now in Nashville for his first year with the Titans. The body does not heal as quickly as it used to and despite the fact that he is an extremely great athlete and brought the Titans offensive line a lot of power this season, he is 35. And while most people think that even in the football world, that he is young, after your body takes so much of a beating, it has to end at some point.

Hutchinson’s replacement is Mitch Petrus . The Titans claimed him off waivers from the New England Patriots. He is 6-foot-3, and 315 pounds. He was originally picked by the New York Giants as a fifth-round selection from the University of Arkansas. He has been in three NFL seasons and played in 29 games. This includes four post season games with the Giants. He signed with the Patriots on November third and played both games since with them.
