Remember when Eddie Murphy was funny? Not the man in real life, because I’m sure he still brings it occasionally, but the man as an actor. Well I remember the time (get it? He was in the video for the song “Remember the Time”) when he was on top of the comedic film world, when he was the man; making films like “Trading Places” and “Coming to America”, movies I still quote twenty-five years later. The man made some of the funniest flicks of all time, but now he’s just the guy who everyone thinks of when they think of fat suits and bad make-up…that makes me sad. Well, before this turns into a big mess of me talking about Eddie Murphy’s failing career, let’s talk about his receding hairline, because that’s a thing that’s definitely happening.
For those of you not in the know, Murphy once sported both a sweet ass red leather suit, and a pretty amazing head of hair. He had a three head when he first started out, as his hairline started closer to his eyebrows than it did the top of his head. He really knew how to rock a head of hair too, as he went through all sorts of cuts (he even had the elusive “black mullet” in “Vampire in Brooklyn”) that would make any hair aficionado proud. However, much like his career has become a shadow of it’s former self, so has his hair. The mega rich star is now in his fifties, and his hair has started to migrate to the back of his dome. He now has a pretty bad hairline, the kind that most people wouldn’t be very excited about. He’s got what appears to be a six-head, and it keeps moving further back. He’s got no aparent bald spot on top, but the recession is in full effect.
I’m not really sure what he’s going to do about his hair loss, as he’s not the type of guy to get plugs or a hair system. I hope he pulls a Lebron James and just starts wearing headbands further and further back on his head. That would make me very happy just for how awkward he’d look at award shows. With that said, I really hope he decides to join up with The Bald Army and wage war against all that is hair. It would make me really happy to have someone to quote old movies with.
