Hostages killed in US strike were dedicated aid workers - Passcomms

A U.S. counterterrorism operation on the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan in January killed two innocent hostages — an American and an Italian — according to information released by the White House on Thursday

Both men, American Warren Weinstein and Italian Giovanni Lo Porto, were working to provide aid to Pakistanis at the time of their separate abductions. Both had been held by Al-Qaeda for years.

U.S. President Barack Obama offered his condolences to two men’s families, and said an investigation had been launched into the January operation.
