Yonkers is too often spoken of in disparaging terms. The perspective is, as all things are, based upon one’s perspective. The view may best be revealed from one venue or from another; perhaps one we thought we knew, or even another. Distilling the facts may be simple or complex. The telling may be massaged by agenda, friendships, money, or dare its definition be ever uttered, altruism. In a city rife with a legacy of retribution, silence is the lid by which offence and skullduggery continues to thrive.

Many people will remember the 1992 American legal drama, A Few Good Men, during which the following exchange took place between protagonists Jack Nicholoson and Tom Cruise:

Nicholson: “You want answers?”

Cruise: “I think I’m entitled to them!”

Nicholson: “You want answers?”

Cruise: “I want the truth!”

Nicholson: “You can’t handle the truth!”
