Police Cuffs And Blue LightsPolice in Barrow quickly arrested three men in connection with two separate assaults over the weekend.

During the early hours of Friday 18th January 2013 a local man was assaulted inside an address on Greengate Street, Barrow. Police officers quickly attended and a 21-year-old local man was arrested close to the scene. The victim, a local man aged 45, remains in hospital with serious injuries, were his condition is described as stable.

Following a thorough investigation, Peter Liam Johnson, of no fixed abode, was charged with an offence of GBH wounding with intent. He appeared before Furness Magistrates on Saturday morning, where he was remanded into custody.

Later in the afternoon of Friday 18th January 2013, at around 5pm, in an entirely unrelated matter, police attended an address in the Marsh Street area of town following another report of a local man, aged 24 being treated for serious injuries. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Enquiries over the weekend led to two local men being arrested. Scott Dobson, aged 31, from Talisman Close, Barrow and Christopher Purcell, aged 30 from Vulcan Road, Barrow have now been charged with GBH with intent and will appear before Furness Magistrates this morning (21 January 2013).

Police would like to thank the public for their assistance with both enquiries, and would also like to add some reassurance that these were not random attacks. Anyone who may have some information regarding either incident, and if they haven’t already done so, are asked to contact Barrow CID on 101. Any information will be treated in the strictest confidence.
