The Sad Track Record of the Golden Globes 'New Star of the Year ...

What Eddie Murphy, Bette Midler, Paul Newman and Angie Dickinson have in common? No, they were not all in the same party at Brett Ratner home. They are all winners of a Golden Globe. No, it was not Murphy. Of Pluto Nash, he got a 1982 as a new star of the year The what now? The Hollywood Foreign Press Agency began wanted the allocation of the most promising newcomer in 1948, four years after its creation the person they thought to take the new hottest thing in Hollywood. The first winners were Richard Widmark and Lois Maxwell, people your grandparents could not even remember. From 1954 to 1965, the price of three to four men and women, the European journalist was thought the world would have been given by the storm. In 1966, the back and the prize went to an actor and actress for a particular movie and, perhaps because so many newcomers showed no promise has been renamed. The first winners were Robert Redford in Inside Daisy Clover (I'm sure it was!) And Elizabeth Hartman in A Patch of Blue. This first winners mark the exact problem with this particular category more often than not failed liquidated winner. Robert Redford is certainly one of the biggest stars in the world, but Elizabeth Hartman? Let's see Leonard Whiting 1969 Olivia Hussey and a pair of awards for his interpretation of Romeo and Juliet. Whiting retired from films in the mid 70s and Hussey went on to star in some horror movie shit and then a lunatic agorophobic have trouble at home were gone. These are your new year's stars, women gentleman.By 1983, the globes were given the award for the sick turkeys, and gave final salvation in the category of Ben Kingsley and Sandahl Bergman. Overall, prices were pretty lousy experience. Of the 59 actors and 58 actresses had the honor, I count only 17 players (Richard Burton, Anthony Perkins, Paul Newman, James Garner, George Hamilton, Warren Beatty, Terence Stamp, Peter O'Tool, Omar Sharif, Albert Finney Robert Redford, Dustin Hoffman, Jon Voight, James Earl Jones, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Eddie Murphy and Ben Kingsley) and 14 actresses (Shirley MacLaine, Natalie Wood, Jayne Mansfield, Sandra Dee, Angie Dickinson, Jane Fonda, Ann-Margret, Patty Duke, Mia Farrow, Tatum O'Neal, Jessica Walter, Diana Ross, Bette Midler and Jessica Lange), any type of permanent minimum celebrities (measured by hand, if I do not know who the hell they are) reached. This is a rate of 28% and 24% success Ness promise predict the newcomers. You have a better chance to play Scratch-A-Million your local lottery system. I reached out to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to indicate why the category has been hit by the record and if they ever hope to recover. They did not return my request for comment. They are probably still ugly how the crystal ball is embarrassing.
